what is pilates?

Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility.

Pilates moves tend to target the core, although the exercises work other areas of your body as well.

For this mat class, expect the moves to be slow and precise with a focus on breathing.

Bring a yoga mat if you have one. Shoes are not required for Pilates.

We help clients set and achieve a variety of health and personal development goals through lifestyle and behavior change. This could mean losing 10 pounds, techniques to de-stress and gaining energy,  improving nutrition or possibly even managing an autoimmune disease.

We focus on repeating small, short-term daily habits (or “tasks”) to work towards a long-term goal. The small task is part of a larger whole, a set of actions.

By working on this strategic set of habits, you practice changing. You ACT into change instead of just wishing for it.

This is a 6 week virtual series (on an app) that delivers alongside your weekly Pilates Reformer or mat class. It’s a deep dive into the philosophy behind the Pilates Method, and how you can use it to design a life you love.

How does the Pilates Lifestyle Program work?
Once you’ve created your account on the app, you’ll get access to:

  • A PDF or online journal to synthesize the coaching into your daily routine
What should I wear to a local class?

The Pilates Method is similar to yoga in this way: Wear comfortable clothes so you can bend and stretch. We don’t wear shoes, so it’s up to you if you prefer socks or not!

What should I bring to a mat class?

For mat classes: bring your yoga mat and a strap (a belt or neck tie works well too). If you have a Pilates Magic Circle, bring that too!

For reformer classes: Just bring you!

I'm out of shape. Do I need to be able to touch my toes?

NO! All bodies, all shapes, all sizes, all levels of ability are welcome!
